The Job:

A Panel Builder is responsible for layout, assembly and wiring of electrical control panels. The panels built are to be mounted to new and/or existing machines around the world. New Electric is seeking an individual who has great attention to detail, who is a continual team player, and that can work in a fast paced environment for a progressive organization.

Typical decision-making or problem solving required for this position includes:

  • Identifying panel build issues in panel and communicating issues with Lead Hand
  • Deciding when additional materials are needed in order to complete required work
  • Defining and labeling wires required within panel
  • Deciding on best wire routing within panel
  • Taking steps to ensure maximum safety on the worksite

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Laying out panel back plates
  • Drilling and cutting holes for electrical devices
  • Mounting and wiring of electrical devices
  • Attending required team meetings and Safety Training Meetings
  • Attending required training/professional development sessions
  • Committing material on Work Orders
  • Communicating with supervisors for work instructions
  • Controlling inventory in/out of stock (for active jobs)
  • Completing Timesheets
  • Gathering required material
  • Keeping phone and barcode scanner charged and ready
  • Keeping shop stocked with proper tools and materials
  • Maintaining Corporate Health & Safety Standards
  • Maintaining Work Order accuracy
  • Performing field work/installations
  • Responsible for ensuring the work area is clean
  • Scanning or signing materials in/out of inventory
  • Successfully completing all required learning activities
  • Tracking of materials
     

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read electrical schematics (asset)
  • Panel building experience (asset)
  • Entry level position (willing to train)

    The Job:

    The position includes responsibility for design and programming turnkey automation solutions, as well as troubleshooting, servicing and debugging of software and hardware utilized in automated controls systems.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and sequence of operations
    • Development and support of PLC and HMI programs for use on industrial equipment
    • Application and setup of VFD and multi axis servo control systems
    • Integration of specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency
    • Panel design (AUTOCAD)
    • Commission and trouble shoot robotic applications
    • Assist customers and/or co-workers with electrical/programming issues
    • Assist with specifications for purchase of electrical components
    • Respond to emergency service requirements including participating in a weekend coverage schedule with fellow team members
    • Provide electrical machine commissioning and/or technical support both on and off-site
    • Field installation work requires travel to customer's facilities

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 5-10 years industrial experience and minimum 5 year's experience working with HMI and PLC programming
    • Proficient in industrial machine controls, electrical systems, PLC and HMI programming with a working knowledge of multi axis servo systems
    • Able to create CAD drawings for assembly and wiring control panels and instrumentation
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Skill in organization and problem solving
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Understanding of production machine, and machine tool capabilities
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to the automation field
    • Program Allen-Bradley, Omron and Siemens PLC's and HMI’s
    • Robot Programming and troubleshooting is a plus
    • Vision systems experience would be an asset
    • Travel could be required, depending on Branch interested
    • A valid 309 or 442 electrical license with minimum 5 years of Canadian experience would be an asset.
    • Hold a valid Canadian driver's license with a good driving record
    • Solid technical communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision

              Job Description

              Perform the role as lead electrician/team leader, by mentoring other electricians as well as working alone on a project, whether it be to run a simple circuit for a 20 amp 120 volt receptacle, install an 1800 amp primary service, transformer and switchgear, design, build and install a PLC based control panel or install high efficiency lighting.

              The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, have some experience developing customer relationships and selling services and can hit the ground running.
